Where everything began

Chernow started his career in hospitality at the ripe old age of 13, but his entrepreneurship began before that. When he was 5 years old, he sold the toys he no longer used, brought in the money, and then started collecting and selling toys. “As soon as I can remember, I wanted to create,” he says, and for the rest of his life he did just that.

Chernow was a young child with a determined mind and had great success, but before that he was severely addicted.

From alcoholism to a successful life

Years later, Chernow started as a bartender at Frank, a restaurant in the East Village of New York City. Here it got worse for Chernow. Alcohol took its toll and it was beginning to show.

After failing to show up for work, his boss Frank gave him an ultimatum: "Either walk out that door and you can never come back, or you can sober up," and if he chose to sober up to In his job, Frank asked Chernow to come to work at 8 a.m. for the next 30 days and help with cleaning. He chose the latter.

“I had two options: I would die or I would sober up,” Chernow recalls. Fortunately, he took the sober path, and with the help and wisdom of a mentor named Marcus, Chernow's life would never be the same.
