Fans attending the 2021 Olympics weekend in Orlando, Fla. saw history being made. It was there that the first Wellness Olympiad was held, and fans watching the show live couldn't get enough of it. Imagine how the athletes participating in the show felt.
One of those athletes was Dr. Sunny Andrews, and she told Isabelle Turell on The Fit Rockstar Show that the energy backstage was second to none.
“Everyone was so excited for Wellness to come on stage. And backstage it was just the best energy. Everyone was so excited," Andrews said. While the competition is clearly designed to determine a winner, the athletes were supportive of each other and the division in which they competed. Andrews is proud of that fact.
“I love all wellness competitors. We were all so, I mean, everyone was so nice to each other," she explained. “At the Olympics we knew we were making history. Well, it was just me mean, I get chills just thinking about it.
Andrews placed sixth at the Olympics. Francielle Mattos became the first champion. Andrews is currently qualified to compete in the 2022 Olympia, which will return to her home in Las Vegas, Nevada, over the weekend of December 16-18. Andrews is confident she will improve on her sixth place from a year ago because she is someone who understands the power of mindset.
“I think if you want something bad enough, you can make it. You know, I think it's all about just doing it. I haven't thought about it too much."
Turell and Andrews talk more about the spa's growing popularity, her career as a doctor, comparisons to actress Angelina Jolie, and more.
