Lamorne Morris was looking for an excuse to get in shape when he took on the role of eccentric programmer Wilfred Wigans in Bloodshot with Vin Diesel.
"I had a bit more weight and you don't want to be the type to show up to set a stomach superhero film," says Morris, who in the long term is known for his fun work as Winston comedy series New Girl. "I also didn't know what to expect when working with Vin. Did he want to punch a hole in me for nothing while wearing a tank top and holding a beer bottle by the neck?"
Bloodshot follows Ray Garrison, played by Diesel, who is killed on duty and revived as a cyber soldier. The Wigans Bow, founded as a viable franchise, left the door open to its own super warrior status, which was the justification Morris needed to go to the gym.
After winning the gig, Morris entered Ultimate Performance in Los Angeles, where he set his transformation goals, including leaning and flexing. That morning, he was paired with Eddie Baruta, U.P.'s global director of personal training, or as Morris describes him, "A torn Romanian man who is one of the most intimidating people I've ever seen."

But beyond the first impression, Morris learned that Baruta was the kind of person who would get him to his goals. The work started by building a full body program that used supersets and large compound exercises to build strength and improve performance. The in-house program was expanded with modified movements of strong men, such as peasant walks, weighted sledge trains and Prowler kicks, which Morris initially struggled with.

"The first time I tried, I couldn't get the sled across the room," says Morris. In order not to be defeated by a lifeless object, he bought his own for the home and drilled whenever the opportunity arose. Combined with a couple of months of Baruta's program, he felt like a champion. "Going back to the gym later and letting it run around felt really good."
Baruta combined these power-building stretches with an all-round increased energy consumption, which Morris increased through regular runs and basketball games. Even the task of going anywhere whenever possible and making sure there wasn't a moment when they weren't burning calories.

The last step was to fix Morris' diet, and that meant cutting out some of his favorite dishes. "I knew the hamburgers and fried chicken would go," says Morris, who sent photos of each meal to Baruta for approval. "But I had no idea how much fat is in cashew nuts! I had eaten like a bag every day and thought I was healthy. "
Since the beginning of the process, Morris has lost around £ 40 and continues to dial the rest, which improves every day. "I finally look at myself in the mirror and see more than the" funny best friend, "" says Morris. "I see someone who could be an action star."
