Take an opportunity now to compete within the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon

Some races are known for their iconic scenery while others are known for their particularly challenging tracks. The best way combines both and that's exactly what you get at the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon. w in its 40th year, the legendary race will take place in San Francisco from August 14th to 15th, and triathletes will race from the famous Alcatraz Island - the former prison that once housed Al Capone - and a picturesque ( and hilly) route led the city. Looking for a festival tent race this summer? That's it. And now is your best chance to be selected: Enter the race's random drawing by April 30th.

Escape From Alcatraz is a modified International Distance Triathlon with swimming, cycling and running sections. It starts with a dip in San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz Island and a 1.5-mile swim, followed by an 18-mile bike ride that takes participants through the Presidio and Golden Gate Park (stops Eyes open to enjoy the view of the Golden Gate Bridge). After that, an 8-mile run winds under the Golden Gate Bridge and along Baker Beach, including a brutal staircase that takes you back from the sand. One thing is certain: this is a very challenging race, even for professionals.

If this is a good time for you, act fast and take part in the Escape From Alcatraz random drawing which will select the majority of the race's 2,000 entrants. Entry is free and entries will remain open until April 30th at 11:59 pm. PDT. It's your best attempt to attend too: according to the organizers, attendees have a 30 to 50 percent chance of being selected. There is only one drawing this year. So don't miss it.
